Community Employment (CE) Scheme

Are you looking for a career in childcare?  Would you like to gain a Level 5 or 6 qualification?

If so, our Community Employment Childcare Training and Development Programme might be for you!

The aim of this programme is to provide participants with the opportunity of acquiring knowledge in the area of childcare whilst also gaining experience working in a childcare or early years setting in either the city or the county. Duties include:

  • Responsive care of children
  • Physical care of children
  • Preparation and implementation of activities
  • Maintaining daily records relating to children
  • Supervision of children indoors, outdoors and in sleeping rooms

Participants are supported to achieve a Level 5/6 QQI Childcare qualification which will enable them to obtain future employment in childcare.

Participants are based in childcare and early years settings in either the city or the county.

Limerick City areas include: Henry Street, Thomas Street, Cathedral Place, Moyross, Thomondgate, Southill, Roxboro, Ballinacurra.

Limerick County areas include; Herbertstown, Knockainey, Hospital, Kilfinane, Kilmallock, Bruff, Broadford and Dromcollogher.

All childcare and early years settings adhere to strict Covid 19 safety protocols.

This is a developmental opportunity, no experience is necessary. Minimum age to apply is 21 years with at least one year of signing history with the Department of Social Protection. The rate of pay is €225.50 minimum depending on status. Applicants must supply suitable character references and be prepared to complete a Garda vetting application form.
