CV and Cover Letters

Your CV is a part of your own personal brand – that tells your story – highlighting your employment history, education, training and why you are a suitable candidate for the job you are applying for.

Tailoring your CV and Cover Letter to the job you want is important, our experienced job club staff can assist you to write and edit your CVs and Cover letters through one-to-one sessions or group workshops.

Some Tips for a Winning CV & Cover Letter:

  • Tailor your CV to the job and company you are targeting.
  • Highlight and use key words and phrases from the job advert/job description that match your experience and skills.
  • Always use action words, keeping language positive and highlighting achievements and responsibilities.
  • Check, check and check again for any errors including spelling and grammar.

Download our CV Form, complete the form and return it to our office with a completed Registration Form.
CVs take 3 days to be ready for collection. Office Opening Hours 9-1pm and 2-5pm Monday to Friday.

Interview Skills

Preparation and practice are key elements to a successful interview. By having well prepared answers to your interviewer’s questions, you can demonstrate how you are the best candidate for the role, and score valuable marks. A lot of interviews will include standard questions that you can prepare and practice. The Job Club can assist you with interview preparation and mock interviews. Many employers use competence based interview techniques. We can assist you in your preparation and through practice, you will become more focused, and confident and make a great impression to score marks and become the winning candidate.

Interview Tips

  • Do your homework – research the company, become familiar with their website/social media site.
  • Remember to make a good first impression – be well groomed, give a firm handshake and make eye contact with your interviewers.
  • Practice your answers – there are standard questions that come up every time (strengths, weaknesses, job history etc). Make sure that you practice your answers.
  • Always be positive – speak well about past employers/colleagues.
  • Ask questions at the end of the interview – Prepare 1-2 questions, it shows that you are interested.

Psychometric Tests

Employers sometimes use various types of psychometric tests as part of their recruitment and selection procedure, at the preliminary stage or at the final assessment stage. Performance at testing will often determine whether or not you are called for first interview. It is important to understand, the type, format the purpose of tests to maximise your performance.

Psychometric Tests can include any of the following;

  • Aptitude Tests
  • Intelligence Tests
  • Personality Tests
  • Interests, Inventories etc.
