CE Childcare Training and Development Programme

The Community Employment (CE) Childcare Training and Development Programme is aimed at people interested in pursuing a career in childcare.  The Programme provides participants with the opportunity to gain a FETAC qualification in childcare whilst also gaining practical experience working in a childcare setting.

The Programme is a 3 year programme.  Over the 3 years, participants work for 19.5 hours in a childcare setting.  Work placements are based in childcare settings throughout Limerick City and County.

Duties include:

  • Responsive care of children
  • Positive interactions with children and the Childcare Team
  • Physical care of children
  • Preparation and implementation of activities
  • Maintaining daily records relating to children
  • Supervision of children indoors, outdoors and in sleeping rooms

At the same time, participants complete a Major Award at QQI Level 5 or 6.  At the end of the programme, the successful participant will be a qualified Childcare Practitioner.

Participants are employed by PAUL Partnership during their time on the Programme and are supported by the PAUL Partnership CE Childcare Supervisory Team.  Day to day supervision within the childcare setting is provided by the Manager of the Childcare setting.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must be at least 21 years with at least one year of signing history with the Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection.
