Limerick City Community and Voluntary Forum
The Voluntary Forum was designed at national level to facilitate the inclusion of representatives on the CDB from within the community and voluntary sector. All community and voluntary groups, clubs, organisations are eligible to be members. The Forum acts as a representative, collective voice for communities.
It is a nominating body for non–elected members of Limerick City Council’s Strategic Policy Committees (Culture & Sport, Social Policy & Housing, and Environment SPCs), City Development Board, Social Inclusion Measure Working Group (SIM), Childcare Committee (LCC), Joint Policing Committee and PAULPartnership Board. Representatives from Issue-based and Geographic Networks make up the Forum Committee.
Members of the Forum subscribe to a set of values and principles as stated in the Constitution:
- Promote the principles of equality, justice, fairness, solidarity, mutual support and cooperation
- Develop a unified voice while respecting the interests of minorities
- Promote the participation of those who have traditionally been excluded
- Work together on the basis of partnership
- Work in ways that are non-sectarian and non-party political and do not discriminate on the grounds socio economic status, gender, marital status, family status, age, disability, race, sexual orientation, religious belief and membership of the traveller community
