The Limerick City Community Arts Group was established in 2010 to:
- promote arts in Limerick City communities
- involve communities in the development of arts that is relevant to their lives
- build the capacity of communities, including the arts community, to develop and promote community arts.
The Group’s membership comprises representatives of local community organisations as well as organisations that support the arts in the city.
In 2010 and 2011, the Group, in conjunction with the Belltable Arts Centre, supported the delivery of Shakespearean Drama Workshops in local second level schools. In March 2011, the Group organised and hosted a celebration of International Women’s Day. The Group is currently providing community arts training for community activists and members with the view of developing the arts in the wider community.
