Education and Training

The aim of the Education and Training Sub-Group is to develop and support strategies and structures which promote participation of marginalised groups and individuals in education,  and to support key education partners to integrate their work so that the quality of education provision is enhanced.  The Sub-Group developed, implemented and supported a range of  initiatives and actions in 2007:

Supporting Community-based Adult Education

Through its membership of a number of city-wide networks, PAUL Partnership supported a range of initiatives and actions aimed at increasing community-based adult education.  For example,

 

Funding was distributed through the Co-ordinated Citywide Guidance Partnership to 9 Community Centres to cover resource and accommodation costs incurred in providing an Outreach Adult Education Guidance Service in the Community Centres.

 

The Limerick Community Education Network produced a course brochure which provided information on the range of community-based learning opportunities in the city.  The Network also engaged a facilitator worked with 12 community education providers to develop Equality Plans.

 

The City of Learning Steering Group (which is a sub-group of the City Development Board) developed a strategy to promote Limerick as a City of Learning.

 

An external facilitator was hired to explore the potential of using “Learn Local” as an umbrella or brand name for community-based, adult education in Limerick City.
